Family Goals

It was a special weekend for one football family last weekend. Hull City’s Sone Aluko scored his first premier league goal as Hull beat Newcastle United 3-2. While his sister Eniloa who plays for Chelsea in the Women’s Super League scored the last goal in a 6-0 win for England against Belarus in their opening World Cup Qualifier.

Eniola was born in Lagos, Nigeria, while younger brother Sone was born in West London. Yet it is she who plays for England while he plays for Nigeria even though he represented England at under 16 and under 19 levels.

Eniola also played for Team GB at the London Olympics in 2012.

After scoring and hearing of his sisters achievement former Glasgow Rangers and Aberdeen player Sone tweeted “Obviously very happy to score 1st Premiership winning goal happy big sis scored for England today too in their win! Proud of u sis!”

While Eniola tweeted “Nice to get off to a winning start to our WC qualifying. Lovely 6-0 win. Just heard Sone Aluko bagged his 1st prem goal too! Good Day.”
