Crossing the Line Could Be Costly – On and Off The Field.

One of the biggest problems in modern football is when big bucks owners start to interfere in football matters, and once this has happened the writing is very often on the wall for the incumbent coach.

If he speaks out and airs his grievances publicly the owner’s ego is dented. If he keeps quiet he knows that it is only a matter of time before the owner will step across that line once again and his reputation, or influence is going to be compromised.

The news that one A league club’s administration was trying to lure the LA Galaxy to play their team in November was complete news to the coaching staff of one A League club, who were far from pleased that an additional meaningless fixture was being planned without their consultation.

With hosting the game being quoted as costing $2million dollars it is hoped that the coach the players and their best interests in terms of making the A League finals will take precedence rather than some expensive publicity stunt with a fading footballer, whose brand now far outweighs his football prowess.

They may well do, I think it is more likely to be young girls wanting a glimpse of Beckham, but they are still going to have to pull in a big crowd and will they get over 20,000? Especially as it is played at Subiaco Oval.
I have to say it is a game that very much underwhelms me.

Given that they now have Keane also maybe some of those thousands of hoops fans and some others brandishing Eire national flags that we saw at Nib stadium a few weeks ago for the first time ever – could return to support the away team with such fervour
