Clash of The Clashes

It really is disappointing to see that the two top footballing establishments in Western Australia have not had a quiet word and looked at co-ordinating the Football West Charity Shield and the Perth Glory Youth League team’s semi final against Adelaide United. Both games are kicking off at the same time but at different venues, The Shield between Perth and Floreat Athena at BGC Stadium, at 3pm on Sunday, and the Perth Glory Youth at the same time at Clipsal stadium.

Now we believe that the Youth league game is being run by the FFA and they determine the kick off time, but why couldn’t the Shield have been played straight after? It would have guaranteed a bigger crowd and more funds for the chosen charity this year, Telethon. Also by doing this we may have seen more people come and support the Perth Glory youth who are on the verge of playing the curtain raiser for the A league Grand Final after an outstanding season. These boys are WA’s future and have played some wonderful football this season, yet still hardly anyone watches their home games.

There is still time to do so, but if this doesn’t happen don’t worry if you choose to go to the Shield game, take a radio as the Glory Youth game will be broadcast live on 990am from 2.30pm.
